Overview

Wildlife Recorder 4 is a complete package for maintaining all aspects of your wildlife information. The package can be used to record information about all forms of wildlife, e.g. birds, butterflies, dragonflies, mammals, moths etc.

Wildlife Recorder makes it easy for you to you to keep information about the wildlife you have seen and the places you have visited. Once you have entered your information into Wildlife Recorder it is a simple matter to summarise your sightings into lists, produce printed reports and checklists.

Wildlife Recorder maintains information about sightings, lists, sites, observers and species. The package maintains information in four separate areas. It may be helpful to consider these areas in terms of the everyday items you use. The Trips and Sightings Area is equivalent to your field notebook, the Locations Area equates to your own version of a "Where to watch birds" type book, the Species Area equates to the list of birds in a field guide and the Lists Area is a summary of your individual sightings and has exactly the same function as the lists which you may currently produce on paper.

All the data from the individual areas is held within a single database. With Wildlife Recorder you can keep several separate databases on the same personal computer, e.g. a database could be set up to hold butterfly records and another to hold bird records.

Flexible queries allow you to speedily identify the information in which you are interested, the results of queries can be used to create reports. Reports are output as PDF files.

Export facilities are provided which allow the data identified by the query to be output to a file in a format suitable for importing into a spreadsheet program or even into another database program.

It is possible to associate pictures, video clips, sounds and other objects with a species, site or sighting, e.g. you can link your digital photos to your sightings.
