Help - Toolbar and other program icons

Along with a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows, it is fundemental that any WR4 user understands the use of icons. WR4 has been designed to allow users to get from one area to another as quickly as possible using toolbar icons

Each toobar is split into sections split by a pipe ( | )

The first section is always the Standard icons used throughout the program.
The other sections are set out as logical as possible for the Specific screen thats being used.
Some toolbars have a dropdown of recent items used and above the icons is a normal file menu which changes the toolbar when selected.

Also to the far right is the close program icon, and using icons allows WR4 to have many items available at any time.

Users must take time to understand and learn toolbars as thier icons can change as they use the program. A basic understanding is essential.
Place your mouse over any icon for a tooltip of what the icon does and its shortcut.

Toolbar - File Menu Functions

Database select		(Alt + 1)	Close the trips window and the current database and display the database selection window.
Workspace select		(Alt + 2)	Close this trips window and display the trips workspace selection window.
Spreadsheet select		(Alt + 3)	Close the trips window and display the spreadsheet selection window.
Species Checklist		(Alt + 5)	Close the trips window and create a species checklist.
List select		(Alt + 4)	Close the trips window and display the lists selection window
Report		(Ctrl + P)	Produce a report
Export		(Ctrl + E)	Export the trips and sightings for use in an external spreadsheet package.
Upload		(Ctrl + U)	Upload data to Nature Lister.
Shutdown			Close the Wildlife Recorder 4 program.

Toolbar - Home Menu Functions

Name	icon	Shortcut	Action
New Trip			Add a new trip.
Add Sightings			Add new sightings to the selected trip.Edit sighting
Edit sighting			First select the species sightings you want to update in the sighting grid and then click the icon See editing sightings
Bulk sightings entry			Bulk sightings entry provides a rapid method of entering many sighting using the keyboard. To start the Bulk Sightings Editor click on Home menu and then the icon
Delete sighting(s)			First select the species sighting(s) you want to delete by clicking in the row selector box at the left of the sightings grid rows then click on Home menu and the icon or press the Delete key. A warning message will be displayed click the Yes button if you wish to proceed with to deletion.
Sightings Mass Change			To make the same changes to multiple sightings first select the species sighting rows you wish to change by clicking in the row selector box at the left of the sightings grid rows then Click on Home menu and click the icon. See Sightings Mass Change.
Edit trip			First select the trip you want to update in the trip grid and then Click on Home menu and click the icon
Trips Mass Change			To make the same changes to multiple trips first select the trips rows you wish to change by clicking in the row selector box at the left of the trip grid rows then Click on Home menu and click the icon. See Trips Mass Change.
Delete trip(s)			First select the trips(s) you want to delete by clicking in the row selector box at the left of the trip grid rows then click on Home menu and the icon or press the Delete key. A warning message will be displayed click the Yes button if you wish to proceed with to deletion.
Find Trips and Sightings		(Ctrl+F)	Show the Find options menu. Select Species to search for a sighting species (see Searching for Species) Select Location to search for a trip location (see Searching for Locations). Select Date to search for a trip dates (see Searching for Dates in Trips). Once a find has been performed you can find the Next and Previous matches by using or by pressing the F3 or Shift+F3 keys.
Filter Trips and Sightings		(Ctrl+Q)	Show only those trips matching the entered filter values. For help with filtering locations see the topic Filtering the trips and sightings display .
Clear Trips and Sightings filter		(Shift+Ctrl+Q)	Select Clear from the menu to remove the current filter and display all the trips.
Internet lookup		(Ctrl+I)	To look up information about a species on the web then select a supported website from the drop-down.
